Technical Overview
Users can simply take a photo of a dish, and Gemini AI will analyze the image to identify ingredients and estimate their weight.
Ingredient prices are fetched via API from nearby supermarkets and grocery stores to automatically calculate food costs.
Users can optionally input fixed costs such as rent, labor, and depreciation.
The app then calculates daily net profit based on sales entered into the calendar.
Challenges & Solutions
Although AI reduces some manual input, the app still requires a fair amount of user input, which could lead to user drop-off.
To address this:
I studied UX patterns from finance-related apps that handle complex inputs
Replaced free-text input fields with button-based selection to make the experience lighter and more intuitive
Design Approach
This project was built with a single real user in mind.
• I spent time closely observing the user’s behavior and needs, striving to design something that genuinely solves their problems.
